How do I add people to my friends ?

One of the main points of the Second Life "game" is making friends with the many residents that you will meet whilst exploring. Some that you talk to you might wish to speak to again, build on the first contact.

Linden have made this easy for us. Just right click on the person you wish to add to your friends list. Select "Add Friend" from the pie-chart menu that comes up, and click ok on the information box that pops up.

They will then be offered the chance to become your friend and may accept or decline. It is normally best to have talked to the person you want to friend for awhile first, maybe even during the conversation ask if you may "friend" them as most unsolicited offers of friendship without talking first are rejected by the recipient.

How do I wear prim attachments (hair/wings/skirts, etc)

Sooner or later you will want to wear something that is made from prims rather then a texture - this could be a set of wings, or a pair of shoes, some new hairstyle or pretty much anything. To wear these items find them in your inventory, right click them and select wear - most have saved postions they attach to. To remove them once again, find them in your inventory, right click them and select detach.

NOTE: Most prim hair requires you to wear a bald base or Baldie, most hair sellers package thier prim hair with this or sell them for 0LS. To wear the bald base you find it in your inventory, right click, select wear.

How do I attach a HUD to my avatar?

There are many types of HUD (Heads up display) in Secondlife, some are tools, some to control things like animation over-riders, some that allow you to play games in world (for example: Tiny Empires). To attach to your avatar you find it in your inventory and select wear - most have saved postions they attach to in the same way as prim clothes/items do. To remove, find them in your inventory, right click them and select detach.

However sometimes although they are attached, you might not be able to see them, in this case you might need to choose another HUD slot for them. To do this, find the item in your inventory, select Attach to HUD, and then choose an available slot to attach it to from the ones offered in the menu.
